About Us
Founded by David Witzig, eCommerce Insights provides a new way to grow your online business. We offer affordable solutions for businesses of any size. We have been in the Internet & eCommerce industry since 1996 and have worked for some of the leading brands in eCommerce, digital marketing and digital media. Here's a recap of our founder's experience.
David has been growing eCommerce websites and digital marketing programs for over 20 years. In 1996, David started his career in eCommerce and digital media. During his five years at NetRadio.com, he pioneered Internet radio and helped grow NetRadio.com into the leading Internet radio network of its time. He was a key participant in NetRadio’s IPO road show which raised $35 million in 1999.
David moved to Best Buy in 2000 and developed industry-leading merchandising programs for entertainment software products including the first-ever digital music download card and in-store preorders for BestBuy.com. At Best Buy, he also developed a highly-successful strategic partnership with NetFlix in advance of their IPO.
David moved over to ShopNBC where he pioneered vCommerce (Video Commerce). Video commerce links every video content element to the ability to purchase that product. He also developed the first-ever full-screen player for live 24/7 broadcast video and an innovative automated process for creating product videos. See Article
David had also held senior level eCommerce and digital marketing positions at several national retailers including Bluestem Brands, Christopher & Banks, Bellacor.com, and Sportsman’s Guide. Most recently, David helped drive the transformation of the digital marketing and grocery delivery strategy for Supervalu/UNFI. UNFI is the largest grocery distributor in the country with sales over $20 billion annually. In addition, David has been a panelist in numerous eCommerce and digital media trade conferences and is a frequent Guest Lecturer at the University of Minnesota's Carlson School of Management.
Before David started his eCommerce career, he worked in the entertainment industry at EMI Music. He held a variety of senior level roles at EMI including regional director of EMI Music Distribution and National Sales Manager for Capitol Records. He worked with some of the most popular recording artists in history including Paul McCartney, Tina Turner, Garth Brooks, Bonnie Raitt, The Rolling Stones, Janet Jackson, Frank Sinatra and many more.
